#Community investment
Suncorp's Community Investment Strategy focuses on making a positive impact on the most material social issues facing Suncorp and the community, specifically social and community resilience and natural hazard resilience.
We are dedicated to our role in supporting individuals, families and communities to recover from the immediate and long-lasting impacts of natural disasters and help them to be better prepared for the future. Building resilient communities begins with strong relationships with our stakeholders and Suncorp’s engagement with the broader community is a strategic priority.
Preparedness
Just like Suncorp, our partners at Queensland Reconstruction Authority (QRA) work to help Queenslanders understand how they can better prepare for extreme weather and become more resilient through initiatives like Get Ready Queensland Week.
The Get Ready Queensland program is managed by the QRA, the state’s lead agency for disaster recovery and resilience. And since 2020, Suncorp has been the official sponsor of the program.
As one of Australia’s largest insurers, we know the importance of being front and centre for our customers, no less in the wake of natural disasters. Our State Emergency Service (SES) partners in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria share our vision of building futures and protecting what matters, by being there for communities in moments of truth.
Community disaster recovery support
Since 2021, Suncorp has pledged more than $1.9 million to the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR) for a dedicated responsive disaster preparedness and recovery grant program, Rebuilding Futures.
The grants are for local not-for-profit community organisations to undertake community-identified and community-led recovery activities that can strengthen resilience and enable projects for building back better to reduce the impact of future disasters on community wellbeing and physical infrastructure. FRRR facilitates funding and capacity building at the local level.
Working together to restore First Nations knowledge and rebuild Australia’s natural resilience
Collaboration with government, community and industry is crucial to enhancing Australia's resilience to natural disasters. Suncorp is pleased to partner with Firesticks Alliance, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to building greater awareness of traditional land management practices.
Suncorp has proudly partnered with Firesticks since 2021.
Firesticks Alliance hopes to revive cultural knowledge practices to help the landscape heal and build natural resilience, while ensuring this important knowledge is passed on to future generations.
Its vision is to empower communities to protect and enhance the Australian landscape through mentoring, training, and advocacy programs that demonstrate the value of Indigenous land management.
Employee Giving
Workplace giving at Suncorp is enabled through 'Collective Giving' – purpose-led, community-enabled collaborations, partnerships and reciprocal giving, coordinated across individual, organisational and Group-giving initiatives.
Collective Giving inspires and enables our employees to make a difference on the issues they care about. Each year Suncorp commits to match our employees’ donations, fundraising and volunteering efforts.
